Caddo Parish, LA Integrates Mobile EMS Data with BIO-key FireRMSÔ
Implementation of first phase of Mobile EMS dramatically enhances first responder productivity
Wall, N.J. – Feb 22, 2005 - BIO-key International, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BKYI), the leader in finger-based biometric identification and wireless public safety solutions, announced today that Caddo Parish, LA has completed the first phase of deploying a state-of-the-art EMS field data collection solution. The new mobile product developed by HealthWare Solutions brings critical EMS data from the field in real-time directly into BIO-key’s FireRMS™ records system. This eliminates the time-consuming process of manually entering over 28,000 patient care reports per year and significantly improves accuracy.
Once fully deployed, emergency medical personnel responding to incidents will capture patient demographics, medical interventions, vital signs and other information on a ruggedized pen tablet while in the field. That same information is sent to their records system, automatically populating the appropriate fields in the incident report.
Arthur Meacham, the Systems Administrator for Caddo Parish 911 Communications says, “Providing our EMS personnel with an electronic means for completing a report and then linking that back to our records system is invaluable. Our first responders spent countless hours with the old paper system writing out reports and then coming into the station to re-enter the data into the computer.” Meacham goes on to say that “the system also eliminates transcription errors and improves the overall quality of the data collected.”
“BIO-key is committed to providing first responders complete solutions to streamline their operations so they can focus on the protection and safety of their community,” said Mike Depasquale, CEO of BIO-key International. “Strategic partnerships with companies such as HealthWare demonstrate our company’s strength and leadership in the fire solutions market.”
